Cousins Weekend

Tag and I were fortunate enough to go to Louisville to visit my cousin Darcie and her son Caden.  We made the trip last summer and snuck another trip in before Tag turns two and we have to pay for his seat on the plane.

He did wonderfully on the plane.  We flew through St. Louis and luckily the planes were not full so we had a row to ourselves on each flight.  He sat with his seat belt on and played and enjoyed looking out at the "pane" which was actually just the wing.

He and Caden (who is 5) were so excited to see each other.  Darcie and I had trouble calming them down for bed that night.

On Saturday we enjoyed a leisurely morning while the boys played and then headed to a place called "Henry's Ark."  It is a home that allows you to come feed the animals carrots and view them up close and personal.  Both Caden & Tag loved it.  Tag enjoyed walking around the chickens, goats and donkey's.  He even fed some goats and camels.  I didn't get many really good pictures considering I had Tag on his "leash."  He also wore his hood most of the time because Caden had his hood on and Tag had to the same thing as his big cousin.  (If you click on the picture it should open larger in another window.)

After leaving Henry's ark and escaping the unfriendly Emu that followed us to our car, we headed to a beautiful park to let the boys feed the ducks.  Tag really enjoyed this, but didn't understand why Mommy wouldn't let him get close to the rocks like Caden did.  So he ran around and chased balls... other kids balls.

After all the ducks had thoroughly been fed we headed to the playground.  Tag and Caden played really well together and had fun sliding and climbing.

After the park we headed to Darcie & Caden's favorite Mexican food place.  It is really yummy.  Tag mostly enjoyed dipping his chips in salsa.  That is pretty much all he ate.  After dinner we headed back to their house and let the boys play.  Tag really enjoyed playing with the trains.

On Sunday we took it easy and then ran some errands with them.  We had to be at the airport around 4:00 to catch our flight.  The boys both enjoyed their suckers and riding in the carts together at Michael's and Wal-mart.  What fun it was for me to see Tag interact with his cousin and of course I always enjoy a chance to catch up with Darcie as well.

Going home our flights were FULL.  Tag had to sit on my lap but all things considered he did pretty well.  Our first flight was late and therefore it made us late for our second flight which was also full.  They held the plane for us in St. Louis and as we were running to the next gate we heard them paging us over the loud speaker.  Luckily when we boarded the plane we found a seat next to the window (which was good entertainment).  Tag had not napped at all that day so I wasn't sure what would happen since he was so tired, but he watched the take-off and then sort of closed his eyes and fell asleep.  I was shocked!  He never usually falls asleep on me.  It was a blessing. He slept most of the flight until he kind of opened his eyes and noticed that I had pretzels.  It was a very good trip!  Thanks to Darcie & Caden for hosting us and driving us around all weekend!
