Happy 4th of July

Generally big presents aren't given on the 4th of July... but it just so happened that Tag's bike was ready for the big reveal on Monday. It's been a work in progress since his birthday and we kept it a total surprise. On Monday after dinner we let him see his brand new big boy 2-wheeler as he calls it. He was so excited!

He hopped right on to check it out
Inspected the tires...which he approved seeing as there were two big ones (and two training wheels for the time being) as opposed to his trike which he continually told us was too small for him (it was). We didn't have a helmet for him so we had to go to the store first to be fitted.
But on the way we got ice cream... it was a holiday after all.
Then it was onward to find a helmet. We tried many on... but alas he determined that the Spiderman one fit the best...we're not much into super heroes, but I'm pretty sure that Spiderman on the helmet that came with a horn made it "seem" to fit the best to Tag.
Then it was time to ride
We've been out almost every evening since. The pictures of Tag in the green shirt are actually from this evening. I moved my car to give him a lot more room. He's doing better but still has trouble getting going again if he comes to a complete stop.
But he sure is cute in his helmet!
We took a break for a phone call to Daddy who was working late. This phone call (in which Tag seemed really old) made B.J. decide to come home for a little bit to read Tag books and put him to bed.
B.J. is a great Dad, but Tag sure misses him when he has to work late. Tag was really quizzing him on why he wasn't home and what exactly he was doing at work. I felt so bad for B.J.! Tag is getting more grown up each day and was asking B.J. some really hard questions. What a special boy we have in our lives!

P.S. I will REALLY try to blog more consistently although I make no promises... life is one big crazy fest these days (in a good way).
